Me, Gingerweeds

My hobby with polymer clay began in the late '90s. I started with magnets of my favorite cartoon characters (many of which I still have to this day), and polymer clay pens as gifts.

I was disappointed after scouring the internet hoping to find jewelry and accessories that appealed to me. I did fall in love with the chunky glam of Tarina Tarantino's jewelry, but found it too pricey for my budget at the time.

After my fruitless search for the perfect accessories, my family suggested that I make my own jewelry, exactly the way I wanted it. Inspired by the cupcake topper on my Jessica Simpson dessert treats fragrance, I replicated my favorite desserts, embellished them with Swarovski crystals, and made them into necklaces. They were an instant hit with everyone who saw them.

I was told many times to sell my jewelry. Feeling encouraged, I spent hours on Google and Ebay to see how much items like mine were selling for. I couldn't find a single thing similar to what I was selling! I decided to put my necklaces on Ebay anyway, and see if there was a market for what I was offering. I was very pleased to find that people loved my creations, and as the demand grew, a new internet business flourished. It began as an Ebay store, expanded to Etsy, and I had a huge network on Myspace.

My jewelry creations began back in 2004, and in 2008, I shut down my website to focus on other things. In 2009, I opened a new Etsy store under this new name, so that I can sell or just share the various crafts I love creating. I do not wish to be limited to jewelry making, although I do continue to create wearable pieces today.

So, that's my story. I hope you enjoy my blog! It represents little facets of my style, personality, and imagination :)
